Want to learn how to play the piano? Want to improve your playing? Want to learn how to play songs by chords AND by notes AND by ear? We’ll be doing all 3!
I’ll be teaching you 3 songs over 12 weeks in a way that you’ll learn how to play simply AND read music AND play by ear! You’ll learn a worship song and 2 Christmas carols that you’ll be able to play by the end of the year for your family & friends or just for yourself!
Regardless of your age (16 and up per Zoom guidelines) or present skill level (or lack thereof), I’ll help you grow in your ability to play the piano AND ENJOY IT!
About Me
I’ve been playing piano since childhood and thought every else played, too! My parents played, my grandparents played, my siblings played. I didn’t realize till I was in college that not every played the piano! It just came with the territory of life… at least my life.
But I rarely played publicly. For years, I just played for myself because I loved it. When I put my faith in Christ in 1987, I began playing worship songs, and that became my outlet to worship God with my whole heart.
In 1995, I began writing my own songs and haven’t stopped! I’ve since recorded 3 albums, published 3 piano books, and written and staged a 25-song musical!
I’m now wanting to share what I’ve learned and what I’ve loved for all these years with you… so you can learn and love playing the piano, too!
The Plan!
Here’s the plan. I’ll be teaching on zoom every Thursday from 12-1 PM starting Thursday August 22 through Thursday November 14. In those 12 weeks, I’ll teach you 3 songs… 2 Christmas carols and a worship song, plus give you myriad tips along the way. My goal is that by Christmastime you’ll be able to play all 3 songs comfortably in whichever style suits you best, as I’ll be teaching all 3 songs in 3 different style.
The 3 songs are: “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Here are some samples of what you’ll be learning, depending on your ambition.
I’ll provide some of the sheet music and ask you to order the others at a minimal additional cost, as some versions are copyrighted to other writers.
